A ruling came down in May that stated that Eve of new NA LCS team Apex would be suspended for an indefinite amount of time. We now know what he did, and the reason behind the consequences he’ll be facing. From the official Riot announcement,
“Eve is being penalized for using an illegal scripting program on the KR server. Eve admitted to using the scripting programs and took full responsibility.”
Riot stated that the ban from competitive play for this offense can range anywhere for 10 to 20 months. Luckily, because Eve didn’t deny any allegations and cooperated fully with Riot’s staff he’ll only be receiving the bare minimum of 10 months.
ShrimP, the Jungler who has taken the place of Eve (they originally swapped games, depending on who was performing better) has performed decently throughout the first two weeks of the season, and looks to improve as the split progresses.
It’s been nearly a year since the last player (LCS, not CS) was banned from competitive play, when XiaoWeiXiao was suspended from play while on Team Impulse for Elo boosting. It’s a rare occurrence in the scene, and seems just outright silly to break rules when you’re already at the pro level. Step it up, Eve.
